I run a combined CentOS 5.5 frontend/backend. Hopefully CentOS 6 won't
be too far away and will solve the dependency problems without
introducing new ones (dependencies or others!).

I doubt it would be possible to upgrade the backend without also
upgrading
the frontend. It's all tied together.
Oh no, I explained it badly .... I realise that I'd need to upgrade
the backend (centos) and frontend (fedora) together.
What I mean is I only have the backend components installed on the
backend, so that might make for fewer dependencies that rely on
components that aren't already up to the required version for mythtv
0.24 in centos5.
