I've booted the alternate version of the installer for 10.04. Sorry, I didn't mention it earlier I noticed you were only asking for the server and netboot versions, which I only got to work once I think and it wasn't very reliable and repeatable.

Alternate version will boot fine however. If you want more info on alternate I'll have to check my flash drive to remember how I did it since it was quite a few months back.

I ended up going with Hardy (8.04) over Jaunty (9.04) because Jaunty's end-of-life occurs this October, while Hardy is supported until April 2011 for the desktop version and until April 2013 (!) for the server version, which I use. However, I'm not really sure what "supported" means; I'm guessing it has to do with security updates and backports.

If anyone is able to boot the alternate, server, or netboot versions of Lucid (10.04), I'd greatly appreciate hearing about how they did it. I've only had luck with the standard desktop version.

I stuck with 9.04 because, as Robert mentioned, this was the last
Ubuntu version that used grub (rather than grub2). Since this was all
new to me when I started, I figured that I'd start with the "tried and
true". I'd like to try installing 10.04 at some point, but I'm not
really sure what new features/improvements have been made to justify
the effort. I think that MythVideo has been improved (which I am also
using with the atv, so there is some motivation there), but I don't
really think there's been many improvements to the TV watching
interface itself. Hopefully, someone will correct me on this if I
mistaken. If you tackle it, please let me know any lessons learned.
Good luck!
