Hi, I've prepared a first beta version of a precompiled version of AUCTeX 11.85 for Emacs 22.1 on Windows. Here is how to use it:
1) Get the official Emacs 22.1 distribution for Windows from <URL:ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/emacs/windows/emacs-22.1-bin-i386.zip> and follow its installation instructions (this usually means unpacking it at the desired place). 2) Get the precompiled AUCTeX 11.85 version from <URL:ftp://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/auctex/auctex-11.85-windows.zip> and unpack it into the Emacs directory created in step 1. The contents of the ZIP archive are not prefixed, so make sure that they align with the Emacs installation. The location of the `site-lisp' directory might serve as an indication. 3) Enjoy. Note that you must use a pristine Emacs installation. Do not use the precompiled AUCTeX package if you already installed other stuff into your Emacs directory because extracting the contents of the package will obviously overwrite files in the Emacs directory, most notably the `dir' file in the `info' directory. Note also that the AUCTeX package does not include the image libraries for Emacs you still have to cater for those yourself by following the instructions in <URL:ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/emacs/windows/README>. I'd be interested in hearing if the package works well for people trying it. If this is the case I'll advertise it on the AUCTeX web site as well. -- Ralf _______________________________________________ auctex mailing list [email protected] http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/auctex
