No-platforming is the (American) left boogieman de jour, what with explicitly saying that people they disagree with should not be allowed to speak. There's this rhetorical tactic where the argument is that you shouldn't give Hitler a platform, therefore anyone to the right of Bernie Sanders should not be given a platform. Compare the likes of Charles Murray and Jordan Peterson to KKK rallies, and I think you'll find the argument holds less water than a paper bag that had a bad run-in with The Shredder.
The problem is not the idea of making things better for minorities. It baffles me that the extreme left interprets "stop doxxing people and raising online mobs to force them to change their names and move and rebuild their lives from scratch over a t-shirt" as "Women black people and lgbt should be put in their place".
I mean, there's probably a DND-style alignment system, where Social Justice and legit neonazism are opposite ends of one axis, and good/evil the other, and the fighting mostly doesn't invollve the far right at all, but the far left acts like people to the left of neutral are farther right than they are left. Also, the sj-good and neutral-good tend to act as though they never encounter sj-evil / neutral-evil, respectively, but the evil end of their opponents are omnipresent. I think that reflects actual experience. After all, sj-evil isn't going to make their evil known to sj-good, but neutral evil and nazi-evil are going to troll the crap out of sj-good. Same goes for neutral. So you have neutral-good having never met a Nice Guy™, while sj-good feels justified in calling neutral-good Nice Guys™ on the grounds that sj-good is bombarded with neutral-evil who specializes in pretending to be neutral-good for the five words it takes to decide whether someone is friend or foe.
So, yeah, everyone? There are bigots who use antibigotry to mask their bigotry. There are genuine antibigots. There are classic-style bigots. There are raging entitled misogynists ranting about feminists. There are people who refuse to call themselves feminists in spite of being less bigoted than the average feminist, on the grounds that they keep getting attacked by people who call themselves feminists but treat every male as though they are the entitled misogynist wannabe rapist. Black and white, it is not.
It's like, "we're onboard with social justice, but the tactics are kinda horrifying and authoritarian", and then the response is "how dare you say that slavery is ok and women belong in the kitchen?" Reading comprehension, FCOL.
