@defender, that would be unlikely. I mean, first, you would have to proove beyond a doubt, I made that sound.That's hard enough, because anyone, can edit the sound and say, no, this is mine. I mean, it is very hard to proove who made what in the soune world. I have that torrent library, yes, but i have started buying my stuff, not pirated sounds, although i'm still using them, but i'm buying my own. besides, no one checks what you used. Again, sound effects wise is almost impossible to proove who made it and if your pirating it, unlike music, because aanyone can edit the sound and clame its their own. what i'm saying is, prooving actual coppyright of a sound is nigh near impossible, plus it would be completely pointless given anyone that knows how can modify it and make something new with it; and that's when the owner of the sound changes. Now. If a sound is used, just as is; without modifying it or making something new from it; that could technically get the person into trouble. Technically; mind you. The problem still is that in most cases, the used sound has so much shit combined into it... i mean, lets say you use a gunshot from hollywood in a fight seen. Ok, you use said gunshot, as is, no modifications what soever. Even then, the sound is berried amung... hell, i don't know; other gunshots, maybee music and dialog, that even then; in its normal state, that sound can be very hard to pick out given its been mixed with a whole bunch of other sounds. am i in support of piracy? Hell, no. I'm just making the point that in this case, not only is it almost impossible if pirated sounds where used, or even if not pirated, even if they where obtained by legal means, it would still be almost impossible to know what sounds one used for the reasons outlined above; its berried too deeply in the mix, or something new, yes, using that particular sound is made, but again. That particular sound is only used as a bace idea, from which a new sound is generated, hnse,hense, nothing to do with the origional sound. Let me give yoll an example. I went out and recorted a train the other day. I then grabbed the idling of the train, and after much fucking about with it; a shitload of effects and manipulation... i turned it into... a race car. If you hear that race car sound on its own, you'll never think; hey, the origional sound for this was a idling train...
