Re: Idea for cosmic rage, what do you think?

I also kind of doubt this would work. I don't know of any alexa skill that could interface with any mud database, and typing is so much faster than saying the commands out loud. I think cr in general has a problem with accepting suggestions. By that, I don't mean mechanic related suggestions, they do a great job with that. I mean suggestions that critisise a lore system currently in place, even if you're trying to improve the game's universe so everyone has a better place to rp in. A long time ago, I wrote a post on this forum detailing some of the things that don't sit right, and shouldn't sit right with anyone who enjoys reading any sf that's more involved than something like starwars. And I want cr's universe to be a good one. I want it to be based on at least a little bit of actual science. You don't need 8 different degrees to do that. Even sc's staff managed to explain why everything in their game works the way it does, why ftl travel is possible and all that good stuff with very reasonable explanations, and all they had was the ambition to create an imersive universe and a love for pulp sf. But back to that earlier post. When I wrote it, it wasn't very politely done, in fact some of its sections were a bit outragious. That's why I escentially made it a lot less ranty, cleaned up some of the outdated sections, and posted it as a gripe that I think was very reasonable, if you compare it with some of the enraged drivvle that was posted on the gripe section in the past. When I brought it up on the htpc though, I was brootally shot down by nate for no apparent reason. Acording to him, the gripe was written purely out of jealoussy. That is just bs, and I attempted to communicate this in a comment statement, which was rejected by the hosts, so none of the present players could see me coming to my own defense. All I want is make the game a cool place to rp in, with lots of good base resources to start great storylines off of. Many of the problems I outlined aren't even that difficult to fix, aside fro mthe makeup of space and the problems with the war mechanics. However, the following could be done to easily remove some logic errors without any effort at all: Hell, I could even do it for you, it'd only take minutes of my time for the textual changes. Like, Adding a line to temreth's help file about how humans happened on it pre-discovery, making upgrades ship class-speciffic so you don't have a ship that can do absolutely everything at maximum efficiency, or explaining a little bit about why dragon fire works the way it does without injuring the dragons themselves, that sort of thing. Don't just say "it works because we coded it and we want it to." I don't expect a fully fleshed-out and planned universe like the ones you have in the reality dysfunction or perry rhodan series, in the case of rhodan you have many, many writers employed to write for it since it's a booklet series. I don't expect every last bit of science and technobabble to be based off 21st century knowledge like you do in the three body problem or other such hard sf series, that's not what sf is about after all. But even pulp universes like startrek or starwars tell you why things work the way they do, even if the science base they use is outdated or simply incorrect for the sake of storytelling. Example, in the original perry whorand series from the 60s, venus is shown to be a lush jungle world with rudimentary intelligent life. Right after the htpc, the gripe I posted was deleted without the official statement even being recorded. It was basically given once, not recorded, and the playerbase wasn't given the propper time to vote on it. I'm not the only one who wants this to happen. Before the last htpc, the gripe had 4 strong agreements and 2 agreements, and only 1 disagreement if I recall correctly. I won't stop playing the game because of this with my new character of course, but if the staff isn't willing to listen to player feedback on their roleplay environment simply because they're too prowd of what they created so far, then I see little reason to enrich this same environment myself.
