Are Lenovo Laptops Safe?

Hello.
I'm considering upgrading my laptop, and had some success with audio (or the ease of connecting it) on Lenovo laptops. However, ow'm not sure how secure they actually are, as there have been reports of pre-installed malware (like the SuperFish malware). I'd rather not have a foreign govgnment spy on me or have access to my credentials (realizing that the US also probaly could do the same thing, but I would hope that's not the case either).
So, are they safe now, or should I steer clear?
