3 GB of RAM? Are you sure you aren't just running a x86 version of Windows? Because RAM is either built-in as one block of RAM, and there aren't 3 GB RAM blocks out there AFAIK, or they are built-in as 2 blocks, connected in a dual connection, which would require both RAM blocks to be of equal size to work best, and that again would mean that you'd have two 1.5 GB RAM units, which also don't exist IMHO.
Sounds like you'd have 4 GB or more, but since your Windows is x86, it can only address 3 GB of your RAM.
