Dardar: A lot of it is legal, but collecting and handling personal data without a da protection policy, mostly not being gdpr-compliant, is most definitely where this falls into potential gray-area bordering on illegal territory. Technically, he is just funneling money from his personal to the vps providers, and using other people's money that they pay him to pay for the plans. To his credit, he is not claiming to have entered into direct distribution agreements with these server providers. This is a patchwork solution if there ever was one. If you are doing a oneoff for someone, then sure, set up aLinode or Vultr vps as long as they're aware of what it is. But if you are running an enterprise, yo'd be wise to either run your own machine or enter into direct contracts with these providers. There are so many things that are now out of his control with the way he's running things, the customer feedback chain being a total mismanagement from the start. If something goes wrong with a client's server, the first person they are going to logically go to would be you, Dennis. They are going to tell you their problem, and expect you to be able to fix it. You then have to contact the server provider if it's beyond your control, and they have to then get back to you. That is not, and will never be, how a managed provider works. Not only is it not possible to promise full-time availability with this setup, but you never even placed business hours on your site.
