Re: Clok Mud

It probably came from a loot box. As far as skill numbers go, the skills can go all the way to 9999, though I don't think anybody has anywhere close to that skill. You can tell if you're ready for a fight with an npc if you attack them when you have options 19 on, this shows their combat roll. I'll try and explain how these numbers come about here below.
In tactic's none your attack roll is calculated like this, 100+skill+(melee*.25)
so let's say you have 100 swords, and 100 melee. You would have an attack roll of 225. If you are using a bow or any other ranged weapon it substitutes melee for marksmanship.
Your defense roll is similarly calculated, except some weapons give anywhere from no parry roll at all, to an extreme parry roll. Note that parry only plays a part if you are in tactics parry or in tactics none or offense, there are also a few weapons that give a slight dodge bonus against melee attacks.
To continue, if you are rollin g a 225 attack roll, and to make it easy, we'll say you also have a 225 dodge roll as well, you'll want to fight soething with either higher or equal defense rolls.
You don't want to be fighting something with a 1000 defense roll because you'll probably never hit them, and chances are if they have that high of a defense they will probably have an equally as high attack roll as wel.
If you don't know what tactics to use, or if you haven't even heard of them, just type tactics and it'll show you what the different ones are. So in short, if you're not sure how tough or easy an enemy is, just switch options 19 on briefly take a look at the numbers and use that to gage how well you're doing. Note that the rolls only show the max possible number, it doesn't show you what you roll each time.
