Welcome to SL! I definitely know the feeling, you've read everything, but it's a lot to take in, and not always easy to get the hang of.
I do hang around the Virtual Ability spaces sometimes, as well as a few others I have landmarked. I'll be around Cape Serenity for a couple days, if you want to find me. I can give you some landmarks, show you what I know, all that fun stuff.
To teleport to me, copy (copy, don't click) the below link to your clipboard. When you're logged into SL, press control+g. It may take a couple seconds, but you should eventually land on a teleport button.
