That's a nice idea for a test, so I have just tried it. When I play the
.wav file I generated using faad from the original AAC, the sound is
perfect. When I play the original AAC, the noise is there.

One point to clarify: if I am playing these files with bit rate
limiting set to 'no limit' then am I right in thinking that the audio
is sent raw over my network, rather than as flac? I have no dedicated
flac player installed on my Linux server, so if flac is being used then
how would Slimserver be converting to this format?

Thanks
Nick.
