Latency across the USB link. This will effect the amount of delay
between the pc producing the sound, and you hearing it. I'm actually
now thinking that this should be completely insignificant, especially
if they're using USB2.

with regards to this bit of poetry:

"The S/PDIF environment is more prone to unwanted variations in the
frequency of the incoming word-clock signal, which the converter is
always trying to track. But with a USB controller generating its own
word-clock signal, the frequency remains steady."

The squeezebox uses a fixed crystal oscillator for its clock, so it
doesn't suffer at all from this problem. Obviously, a DAC hanging off
a squeezebox will suffer. As for "USB controller generating its own
word-clock signal" - depending on the implementation, this could be
worse than an SPDIF receiver generating a word-clock. Of course, the
detail is not given, and I would assume the best (given the price).

However, "comparison to various cd players was forbidden." err, is it
me, or did someone just paint "snake oil" in flourescant letters across
the article?
