I'm absolutely delighted with my squeezebox. I'm running it as the main transport into a Benchmark DAC1, and the sound is outstanding.
However, I'm so pleased with the SB, that I'm concerned that not enough people know about it. Maybe someone from Slim Devices can answer. My main concern is that the squeezebox does not appear to have a high profile (or indeed any kind of profile) in the main hi-fi/audiophile magazines. For example, in _What Hi-Fi_? (the main hi-fi mag in the UK), this month they have a large feature on computer-based music servers, and there was no mention of the squeezebox. In contrast, the Roku was reviewed and raved about. They appear to have never heard of a Squeezebox. Similarly, in _Stereophile_ last month, the Airport Express was picked by John Atkinson as his audio product of 2005. The reasons he gave for choosing the Airport Express all apply with greater force to the Squeezebox. But he didn't seem to be aware of the existence of the Squeezebox. This seems to be a shame, and a loss of potential market for Slim Devices. Why can't Slim Devices send these magazines, along with others, review copies to raise the profile of the device in the audiophile community? -- sprev ------------------------------------------------------------------------ sprev's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3112 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=19598 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
