: just did some quick googling. Both the Benchmark and Lavry claim to
get rid of jitter by re-locking the incoming signal. Benchmark call
this "UltraLock", while Lavry calls their method "CrystalLock".
Assuming, for the moment, both of these statements are true, then it
looks to me like 2006 might finally be the year we can begin to forget
about jitter!

Edit #2: Looks like I should throw in the Apogee Mini-DAC, as well.
It's $850 without the USB, which I assume most of us don't need,
because we have the SqueezeBox, afterall. FYI, all three of these DAC's
can be found at Mercenary Audio's online site, and no, I don't work for
them.

Forget about jitter? NEVER! I'm still concerned with THD,IMD, and S/N
ratio. Maybe 2006 will be the year we go from measuring jitter from
picoseconds to femtoseconds. I lurk on recording newsgroups and fora and
the general consensus is that the Apogee MiniDAC is not up to the
standards of the Benchmark or Lavry, either Blue or Black. I'm haning on
to my wallet as well.
