I've heard a few different Fostex drivers in a few different
alignments. Just didn't rock my boat. Have you ever heard the B200 in
ANY alignment? The builder of my speakers, Louis at Omega, also builds
cabinets for Fostex drivers but is veering away from them preferring
the B200 and some new hemp cone drivers being custom made for him. The
A8 is in an aperiodic alignment.

Aperiodic Enclosure - an otherwise sealed enclosure design, but with a
vent that is stuffed with damping material, which flattens out the
impedance curve of the design. The area of this resistive vent should
be about 10 sq. in. per cubic ft. of enclosure volume. This design
might take some experimentation with the vent stuffing, testing the
impedance curve several times with different amounts of damping
material until the
flattest impedance curve is found. The aperiodic resistive vent damps
the driver in much the same way as fully stuffing a sealed enclosure
with damping material (100% fill).

In addition damping treatment is done to the spider and the enclose is
a triple constrained layer construction, 3 different kinds of fill. 10
year warranty. 30 day audition period. If you're anywhere near CT you
should take a listen.
