Hi,

I'm one of the weird species called "audiophiles" ;)
Basically I'm interested in the idea of having a music
server. Since I already own an expensive battery-powered
DAC based on PCM1704K that is fed by a heavily
tweaked Cambridge Audio player (upgraded clock, new
power supply etc.), I would connect my Squeezebox to that
external DAC. I know there are also cheaper thin clients
out there so my question is would the stock SB unit be
good enough without additional "digital-out" mods?
The Squeezebox would only deliver data to the external
DAC so I'm not concerned about its internal analog circuitry.
Sound quality is most important for me. If the SB can do
a job as good as the modified Cambridge drive, I would
be more than happy. The ability to play
FLAC encoded stuff is nice but not essential. I would be
interested in your opinions comparing the SB versus other
clients feeding external DACs.

Thanks for your help,

Michael
