I have a 901 that I use with Sennheiser HD-600 headphones with an
Equinox cable. While I've not tried direct digital from my SB3 as a
source, I have done extensive comparison of the (tubed) analog out and
digital out on my Jolida JD100A CD player. I very much prefer the
analog outs to the Grace DAC for a lot of reasons that are hard to
articulate without sounding like a bunch of 6moons reviews in a
blender. The end result is that I enjoy music more through the tubes
and the DAC fatigues my ears pretty quickly.

I have no other, high-quality headphone amp to which I can compare,
though.

Buying sight unheard is probably not the best way to find out what your
ears like.
