i'm not sure why it would surprise you that two wholly different types
of devices should respond differently to different types of power supply.
these are complex systems. our simple mathematical models of how they
ought to behave don't even begin to encapsulate all of what is going on
at the physical level.
it might be easy to pass this all off as placebo effect, but allowing
for subjective differences in perception, it is entirely reasonable to
expect that this result could occur.
