I tried the linear PSU. I initially felt it sounded better, but I am not sure if the benefit is real or just psychological only. Since the whole PSU change cost me only $2 and a few minutes of my time, and has certainly not degraded the quality of sound, I will keep it for now. In any case the whole thing sounds excellent; very close to the CD8/PSX-R/DAC-X combo - but still not quite there. However the benefits of having all my music available at my fingertips outweighs the minor difference in sound quality.
