As we're talking Bach, I particularly like his Well-Tempered (RCA Victor
) and his performance of Brahms #2 + the Appassionate is pretty good too.

Got as far as Variation 3 on 1981 and skipped to 1955. Sorry, but to me
there's no comparision. Listen for example to Variation 5. To me, the
1955 performance is so much more musical.

I think it perfectly illustrates Gould's performances. I have the sounds
track album also and, for example, it opens with the Goldberg Aria from
1955 which I think is sublime, but then track 22 is the opening Prelude
in C from the WTC which I think is awful! Quick, put the Richter on to
rescee me! Ah ... that's better!
