Not really.  Mostly in the quality of error recovery, but if you're
ripping mostly good condition CDs you'll likely see no difference in
the output.  You may see differences in speed, though.

I did some experimenting the last computer I set up, but putting the
three optical drives I had on hand into the computer and ripping
several discs with EAC in both burst and secure modes.  Every time I
got the exact same results, when comparing the resulting files at the
bit level.  I think one drive was an ASUS CD-R, then a Plextor CD-RW
and a Plextor DVD-RW.

Glutton for punishment that I am, I continue to use the Plextor DVD-RW
for ripping, doing a test & copy each time, which halves the overall
speed.  I get something like 1.25X-2X on most CDs.  Last night I ripped
a pristine 65 minute CD last that took 48 minutes, with no errors.
