I replaced a $2,500 Audio Aero CDP with the SB3. I used a very high quality external DAC for a while, but the differences became less and less meaningful over time and I dropped it.
I picked up a "mid range" Sony ES CD/DVD/SACD player for DVD and SACD playback.
