Yes, turning volume up to maximum value was the first thing I did out
of the box.

When listening through CD player, I keep volume knob on the amp
approximate in 9:30 position. For comparison, when I connect SB with
volume set to 32-34, I have to crank volume up to 12:30 to achieve
equivalent loudness.

If SB volume is set to default value of 20, I cannot achieve the same
loudness level until I max out the amp volume.

Is this behavior expected? Any chance that my device IS defective?
