Like you, I became interested in upgrading the DAC after reading all these threads. I said this elsewhere, but I'll say it again here, I don't think the DAC makes THAT much of a difference, not in my system, at least. It may be a little less "fatiguing", but, perhaps, that just means "not as detailed" as the SB3 analog outs. You can take this with a grain (o.k. a pile) of salt, because I haven't done careful A/B testing. However, I'm sticking with the NOS DAC. It was fairly cheap (<$300 including shipping from H.K.), and it looks cool (on the outside and inside I might add). What made a MUCH bigger difference for me was upgrading my amplifier to the Parasound. That change significantly improved pretty much every aspect of the sound of my system. Like I said before, the SB3 analog outputs are very good, and that's probably just because the technology has gotten to the point where it's hard to screw it up. I think if you are happy with the sound, then just stick with it. -- ezkcdude SB3->Derek Shek TDA1543/CS8412 NOS DAC->MIT Terminator 2 interconnects->Endler Audio 24-step Attenuators (RCA-direct)->Parasound Halo A23 125W/ch amplifier->Speltz anti-cables->DIY 2-ways + Dayton Titanic 10" subwoofer He's not hi-fi, he's my stereo. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ezkcdude's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2545 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=22640 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
