This is very informative: http://www.ethanwiner.com/phase.html
First, to answer my earlier question: flat amplitude-frequency response does NOT mean flat phase-frequency reponse; see the section titled TIME OFFSET AUDIBILITY. Second, phase changes by themselves are _not_ audible, according to his test. What is easily audible (again, according to his test) is interference caused by phase delays which lead to a non-flat amplitude-frequency response. -- opaqueice ------------------------------------------------------------------------ opaqueice's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4234 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=22118 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
