That is not really a valid thought-experiment.
The skin of the bass drum is not a window into all sound you hear. Not
from the band, and not even from that particular drum.

BTW, I doubt most loudspeakers are anywhere near linear in the ability
to reproduce a transient from a cone pull compared to a cone push.
