To answer your questions i'd say 1) it takes a little bit longer to transcode to mp3 but not unacceptably so maybe 20% more though i havent timed it 2) as good as EAC - now thats a big subject - I think I'm safeish saying this a) On an unproblematic disc anything decent (like jriver and the flac plugin) should produce a decent rip - as good as EAC b) On a problem disc EAC is probably slower but surer
Although I am a bit of an audio nut (I bought the SB+ from Patrick Dixon) I have always felt worrying obessively over the bits was a tiny bit deranged...but my advice would be a) If the disc is ripping well and quickly relax and use the jriver option b) If its struggling with the rip you could always stop and use EAC on it - jriver will still handle it But there are some people who swear by EAC and thats fine...jriver will still manage it for you -- gandt ------------------------------------------------------------------------ gandt's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=586 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24098 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
