Hi John, welcome to the forum! It sounds like you've done precisely right thing - the only isynchronous digital link in your system is that short I2S cable, and you're clocking from the DAC which should result in just about the lowest jitter system possible. Personally it's never been clear to me that connecting an external DAC over an SPDIF link would best the SB internal DAC, because of jitter. What you've done here sounds about as close as is currently practical to the ideal digital audio system, where the DAC and the buffer output are together on the same chip with the same clock.
How significant is the improvement in sound? I like to ask that this way - if you heard your setup blind versus the stock SB (with the rest the same of course), could you immediately tell the difference, or would it take some careful listening? Can you characterize the difference in quality? -- opaqueice ------------------------------------------------------------------------ opaqueice's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4234 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24800 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
