John, Yes, I'm a "no BS" person and that's intended to carry through 100% in this design.
While a few things in transporter were done strictly for aesthetic flair, the use of thin film resistors, gold plating etc have proven advantages regardless of whether I can personally hear each of those effects. Therefore, I'd prefer to let the sound quality speak for itself rather than try to describe it vs other components in nebulous subjective terms. No, I can not readily discern differences by ear between the best $1K+ DACs, but a lot of my customers can! Also, I still would agree that SB3 rivals high-end stuff. I was actually surprised at how challenging it was to find better performing parts even with a much higher materials budget.
