IMO, it's very much the opposite. I have seen product prices come down, but not by much. How do you explain to last year's customer who paid $2000 for a product, that this year the price is $1200? On the other hand, it's commonplace in the high end industry for a successful product that sells for $1200 for a year or so to have it's price raised to, say, $1400, then $1600, then $$$. Then there's the ubiquitous Mark II and Mark III versions, accompanied by a little marketing barage and a couple of minor design changes. It's very easy for a $1000 product introduced five years ago to cost $2500 today.
I have to admit, I'm becoming more and more cynical every day toward the entire high end audio industry. I have a lot of respect for the companies that don't equate high prices with the term "audiophile". I hate to say it, but I'm afraid that I'm in the camp that feels that Slim Devices may have missed the mark with this one. -- JJZolx Jim ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=25773 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
