EDIT: I forgot the smiley in my original post, I was being
sarcastic...

Whoever wrote the web page that the link pointed to didn't seem to
understand that error correction means just that - the error is
corrected. I think they were confused with error concealment and the
situation where the player has to interpolate the signal, which isn't a
good starting point for a manufacturer...

The point with EAC and other ripping software is that they can perform
many re-reads of a CD (sometimes at lower speeds) in cases where error
correction fails first time and hence have a better chance at avoiding
error concealment. CD players only get one shot at reading the CD when
it is played, although is that strictly true with oversampling CD
players?
