As someone who stuck with vinyl until about 5 years ago, when I bought an expensive CDP (a Naim CDX) because vinyl had become almost unobtainable, I don't actually think there is anything much wrong with the CD medium. I now find that most(properly mastered) CD music sounds every bit as good as vinyl; and in many cases better.
However, the CDX was never up to the task of getting enough off the CD to rival my LP12. My view is that the DAC1 has a pretty 'un-vinyl' sound anyway, and I doubt you are going to get the sound you want from a standard SB2 or 3, with or without an external DAC and PSU. So IMV you need to be looking at either a 'modified' SB, or possibly the Transporter - which none of us have yet heard. -- Patrick Dixon www.at-tunes.co.uk ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Patrick Dixon's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=90 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=25957 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
