I have just started ripping my CDs to flac before I get a Squeezebox. I am using Softsqueeze to play the flac files from Slimserver.
I was happy until I noticed that the sound quality, when played via Slimserver / Softsqueeze, seems no better than an average mp3. By comparison, if I play the same files on Winamp there's a big difference - loads more detail / clarity like a wav file. This makes me worried that Slimserver is degrading the sound, even though I have disabled the flac transcoding options in the server settings.
