This is what you would do if both the DAC as well as the source (e.g. Transporter, 'SB4', CD transport etc.) have only word clock inputs; you would use a Big Ben (or similar) to provide the master clock. If the DAC has a word clock output (e.g. dcs Elgar or some such) then you connect this to the word clock input of your source (and vice versa).
