Definitely not. You want the clock IN the DAC chassis. You do not want to send it across long cables between units. As long as the clock is of good quality and close to the DAC, it doesn't matter what you use to synchronize them. It could be word clock, but you can also use master clock or even s/pdif (going in the othr direction).
