I tried this and noticed no change whatsoever. My system uses a stock SB2 going into a Berhinger DEQ2496, then a Benchmark DAC1 using TosLink for both digital connections. I have a laptop on a table right next to my listening chair, so I can change the setting of the analog attenuation without moving from my listening position, and without even moving my head. Just enter the new value, listen for a while with my hand on the mouse, then click the mouse to update the setting.
