Sorry, I misspoke -- yes, that it would be higher SNR, not lower. And,
yes, the MF is just such a unit. That's why I dropped tubes a long time
ago.

As for looking at diagrams and what-not, of course, mauidan, you are
right. One can always replace parts with more expensive ones. For
that matter, one can do so and increase numbers here and there. Take
the DAC chip: bought in bundle of a thousand, it is quite cheap.

The question is, does it work? My point was that, on paper, the
Transporter is already one hell of a thing. Would nudging jitter or
some such by a factor of 1% have any actual and serious change? My
guess is, no.

PS, guilty pleasures: one of my favorite amps on the planet is the
McIntosh MA-2275 integrated. Mind you, I PREFER my solid state gear.
I also like that what I have doesn't weigh a thousand pounds (as the
ex-owner of McIntosh mono blocs, I really appreciate this!). Still, I
gotta tell ya...that's one sweep amp, and I don't know why --
euphonics, terrible damping factor, what. It makes music sound pretty.

SB3->Nuforce 9.02->Harbeth Monitor 30s/Skylan stands and Quad ESL-988s.
Simple and satisfying.
