At your suggestion, I just tested the attenuation with a coax digital cable, and still no difference. I even tried switching the SB3's digital output from fixed to variable, but no change. I'm wondering if there's a momentary hiccup in the digital data stream that throws off your DAC when you change the attenuation setting. You might try this test: set the attenuation to 63. After the audible difference kicks in, without touching anything else in the chain, power off your DAC for a few seconds, then power it back on, and see if it still sounds the same as the attenuated setting. -- TiredLegs ------------------------------------------------------------------------ TiredLegs's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6201 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=26436 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
