I rip all albums to Flac with EAC. Easily the best forward looking option, as it allows a digital replica of the album. Shelf life of the actual CD may be a question in the next 15-20 years - They may not work - they may - we really dont know yet - so why risk it. Once in digital format - you are good forever - as long as you backup.
Storage is an issue and I recently built a 2TB raid 5 server to handle the music I have. It serves 5 slimdevices around the house and streams to my office where I use softsqueeze. I use Medimonkey on my PC to down convert and load onto the MP3 players I use. I also have a dell axim with telcanto to wirelessly control all my slimservers around the house. Love the setup - and love slimdevices for freeing my music. I listen to more of my collection now than ever before.
