Thanks for posting this...very informative!  I remember speaking to one
highly respected DAC designer who told me he liked using transports with
SACD mechanisms for his redbook DACs because supposedly the physical
angle in which data is laid out on an SACD and the resulting laser
angles are actually better for reading redbook CDs than most standard
CD/DVD mechanisms...and that he uses a Sony SCD-1 as his reference
transport.

One small correction: The Transporter claims to have a 35ps jitter
measurement at the digital output...the <20ps figures are the
measurement at the DAC and the Oscillator (bypassing the SPDIF
interface)...
