The knob uses a magnetic break to render the different effects, for example a 10 position list or a smooth volume control with barriers at the end. Occasionally the knob needs to demagnetize and this is what you can hear. The firmware should only allow the demagnetization to happen about two minutes after using the knob. So usually, as Pat says, you'll have walked away and be listening to the music. Right now I am looking at why WSLam hears the demagnetization at other times. This will be fixed for the slimserver 6.5.1 release.
