I have two Squeezeboxes. One is connected to an Onkyo 6.1 surround system, and the other is connected to a two channel system having an old Radio Shack Optimus STA-2170 (100 watt/ch) receiver and a pair of Technics SB-S407 speakers.
Here's my question for the Audiophiles. I'd like to upgrade my two -channel system. I realize that for what I'm willing to spend, I won't get a "real" audiophile system, but with a budget of, say, $1000 (or less), is there a pure (i.e no radio) amp/speaker combination available that would give me a pretty substantial upgrade from what I've got? My listening is mostly jazz and classical. Thanks for any advice you folks can provide!
