Hi everyone

I just discovered Slimdevices and Slimserver 1 month ago but I really
like what I see + hear; thanks for the great work :-)

I have a question though;

As I read in the forums, the best sound quality from the Slimdevices is
achived by going from Slimserver -> SB3-digitalout / soundcard digital
out -> DAC -> preamp+power amp/integrated amp.
I would like to hide my sound equipment away and control it all from a
PDA, and therefore I would like to be able to adjust the volume of the
preamp through the Slimserver web-interface or one of the other
Slimserver interface applications.
I could adjust the volume level by adjusting the digital output and
skip the preamp but as I understand from other threads that would
degrade the sound quality of the digital output.
Does anyone have an idea on how the volume of a preamp/integrated amp
could be adjusted by the Slimserver when the volume of the
SB3/Softsqueeze is adjusted? My idea is to:

1.Use a preamp with ability to adjust volume level (for instance a
preamp with RS232 interface), and link that to the Slimserver volume
control settings. Does that exist at all?

2.Control the volume of an ordinary preamp with a motor. The motor
should be controlled from the Slimserver volume control settings. For
instance using a very simple preamp eg.

Does anyone have experience using a similar approach?

Best regards,
Kristian, Denmark
