You know, that exact approach crossed my mind, but it would be the silliest damned setup I could imagine.
They do make wireless speakers with built in active amplification and DACs. I'm not sure about the kind of quality available, though. All of the ones I've seen are fairly computer-ish, possibly designed for surround channels of low end 5.1 and 7.1 home theatre setups. And you have to ask how the digital is transmitted to them... I wouldn't be surprised if they streamed a lossy codec to them at some terrible low bitrate so that it can be done on the fly. What about inwall speakers? Most of the people that I've seen who are anal about exposed cabling are also very hesitant to place speakers in a living room. They don't care much about the sound quality, so end up with the compromises of inwall speaker systems -- and no exposed cables. -- JJZolx Jim ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=28300 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
