It is not necessarily obvious, well at least not to me. I don't much care if somebody thinks a question of mine is stupid. If I want to know the answer, I usually just ask it anyway! It's conceivable the SB3 software/firmware attenuation code might use the extra 8 databits in a clever non-standard manner internally, and send a different, standardized 24-bit signal from its S/PDIF output. You see, I do have a 24-bit external DAC, that I wish to use with an SB3. So a direct answer here would be great for me (please): If I use an SB3 with my external 24-bit DAC, will full 16-bit signal resolution be maintained (no lost bits) within the volume range 100 through ~40? -- NewBuyer ------------------------------------------------------------------------ NewBuyer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7862 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=27832 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
