Sears sells a device which works very well for this, item 00924031000,
currently on for $19.99.  It's called an "auto switch" and is available
in their power tools accessories section.

Just like the more expensive devices, it's a relay that turns on an
outlet when current passes through another outlet.

Works well for me and my old Hafler amp.

No knock against Xantech, I'm sure theirs is fine, but it's something
like $50 and does exactly the same thing.

The Sears device is UL (and CSA) certified and can handle up to 20A.
