The audio circuits inside the SB3 are powered by switching regulators inside the SB3. Switching to a linear supply external to the SB3 does not eliminate the switching regulators inside the SB3. There have been many threads about this, and Slim Devices people did some measurements to confirm there is no difference in performance.
If you want to hear a difference you will, so you should get the linear supply and you will be happy. If you don't think you'll hear a difference, then don't bother, because there is no difference to hear.
