At $2225.00 for both, yes it's a good price, pretty equivalent to my total end costs. Although keep in mind, the 30 day free trial is only available if you order direct from Slim which in my case ended up being a good thing.
My transporter failed after about 8 hrs of playing time. And I mean "hardware" failure. I was going to keep the unit as I really liked it, and I think it looks good, and sounds great. SD did offer to repair the unit under warranty, but quite frankly, in my opinion, since the unit was still under the free 30 day trial provision,with roughly 8 hrs of playing time, they should have gone a step further and sent a new unit. This is after all a $2000.00 dollar component and I as a purchaser didn't feel quite right about accepting what amounts to a flawed repaired unit especially while not knowing the cause. In Slims defence, I did receive an email saying "if parts were readily available" they would cross ship a new unit but I was left with a sense of uncertainty. I ran the Squeezebox through my TG5 Processor and quite frankly with the Sunfire doing the work, it sounded awsome. Even then, I would have kept the Transporter as I also wanted to use it on my Sunfires second out which is wired, and feeds the rest of my house, since the Transporters analogue outs would have bypassed the Sunfires internal processor, it would have been a great second pre-amp/precessor to add to my existing system for my zone 2. The point of this post is not to berate SD, but rather to point out the importance of that 30 day free trial and the value it adds to purchasing your transporter direclty from Slim.
