The audio world has gone mad. Just about every single room at the show
had some sort of home theatre setup, with a few notable exceptions:
Slim Devices (of course), Quad, Cyrix, and Sonos. Don't know about you,
but I find the presence of video distracting when trying to listen to
music. Even the likes of Naim had great big video screens on the go. It
was all very depressing.

I ordered a black Transporter while I was there (called the wife to
check I wouldn't be killed for doing so!). Paul from Progressive said
they are now getting deliveries at the rate of about 20 per week, and
said I should get mine in about three weeks. He guaranteed I would have
it before Xmas. (So Fifer: I know you've been a bit peeved at the delay
getting yours, but it must surely be on its way in the next week or
so).

Re. Sonos: I checked them out just to see what all the fuss is about
their remote. Sure, it's pretty, but I didn't feel the controls on it
had quite the right tactile sensation. Their scroll wheel (why haven't
they been sued by Apple, incidentally?) is too small for my clumsy
fingers - I'm sure the one on my wife's iPod is bigger and works
better. Also, the response wasn't as snappy as I was expecting - no
faster than using the remote on a Squeezebox.

Performers -> dozens of mixers and effects -> clipped/hypercompressed
mastering -> you think a few extra ps of jitter matters?
